Believing God’s promises
The readings appointed for this week’s meditation talk about God’s promise to rescue, feed, and deliver his peoples. These promises are changing points. The Bible is full of them. Our life is full of them. You go through one stage of your life and, while you are in that stage, it looks as though that is the way your life is going to be. Then something happens … and everything changes. What do you do? What to believe again?
We can stand in faith on God’s promises and face any struggle in life that comes our way. The faith part is sometimes very difficult because the circumstances may not confirm that God’s promises are in action. Persisting in belief that God will honor his promises is the secret weapon against discouragement in life. Such faith can actually bring the physical manifestation of the promises into existence.
Note how Abraham faced impossible circumstances, yet continued to believe God’s promise to him. And God strengthened Abraham’s faith along the way. You may be facing seemingly impossible circumstances in your own life. If you are struggling, you can start claiming God’s promises for rescue, restoration and protection, just as Abraham believed God. All things are possible with God. Just as God fulfilled his promises to Abraham, he will fulfill his promises to you.
